China’s foreign trade has demonstrated significant growth over the first eight months of the year, with total goods imports and exports reaching 34.78 trillion yuan, which is equivalent to $5.18 trillion. This marks a notable 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year. The nation’s exports climbed to 20.17 trillion yuan, reflecting a 14.6% rise, while imports surged by 22% to 14.61 trillion yuan.
In August alone, trade activity saw a further acceleration, as the total value of goods imported and exported rose by 19.8% year-on-year, totaling 4.65 trillion yuan. Specifically, exports experienced an 18.6% growth, while imports increased by 21.7%. This consistent upward trend highlights the robust performance of China’s trade sector during this period.
For the past four consecutive months, both exports and imports have maintained double-digit year-on-year growth. Notably, the growth rate of imports has outpaced that of exports for the last six months, underscoring a strong internal demand that complements the country’s export activities.
The sustained growth in China’s foreign trade figures reflects the resilience and dynamism of its economy, even amidst global economic uncertainties. These developments indicate a strengthening of trade relations and economic partnerships across international markets.
