Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, faced significant financial challenges, reporting a $238 million loss in the second quarter. This comes as the company pivots back to its mainstay in social media after previously branching out into cryptocurrency and other diverse ventures.

Despite the losses, the company saw a notable increase in revenue, achieving $1.7 million during the quarter, more than twice what it recorded in the same period last year. The new CEO, Kevin McGurn, emphasized that the firm’s strategy would now primarily focus on strengthening its core social media platform while also pursuing selected projects, such as a planned merger with the nuclear fusion company, TAE Technologies.

In a bid to diversify its offerings, Trump Media has introduced Truth API, a subscription service that provides financial institutions with early access to posts from Donald Trump and other influential users on Truth Social. This service, priced between $60,000 and $100,000 monthly, has already secured 10 clients, mainly from high-frequency trading firms.

Financially, at the end of the quarter, Trump Media was holding over $400 million in cash and short-term investments. Additionally, the company possessed approximately $1.2 billion in bitcoin and associated assets. The firm also carries a substantial debt load, with about $1 billion in convertible notes due to mature in 2028.
